Mocobizscene- Monday is the scheduled court appearance of the man charged with the murder of a Jersey City woman, almost a year after her remains were discovered in a shallow grave.
The remains of kindergarten teacher Luz Hernandez, 33, were discovered in Kearny on February 7, 2023. Cesar Santana, 37, the father of her children, is one of two individuals charged in connection with her murder.
The cause of Hernandez’s demise was determined to have been domestic violence. Hernandez was found to have been strangled and sustained blunt force head trauma, according to an autopsy. Santana was apprehended the following three days later. It is alleged that he murdered Hernandez and placed her remains in a makeshift grave.
Regarding her death, Santana was accused with first-degree murder in May. He entered a not-guilty plea.
Additionally, Leiner Miranda Lopez was charged. The at-large 26-year-old suspect is wanted on suspicion of desecrating and concealing human remains. Santana is scheduled to appear in court at the Hudson County Courthouse at 9:00 a.m.
