First rally in Wisconsin sees Harris prioritizing the future of democracy in her campaign

Vice President Kamala Harris urged voters in Milwaukee to unite behind her campaign to protect their freedoms and stop Donald Trump, during her first campaign rally since receiving President Joe Biden’s endorsement.

As the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris has visited Wisconsin 10 times since taking office, and this year alone, she has made five trips to the state. Interestingly, Harris spent a brief period of her childhood in Madison, Wisconsin, making her visits even more meaningful.

In a 15-minute speech, Harris began by expressing her admiration for the current president, whom she referred to as an “incredible” leader.

As she reflected on Biden’s decision to step aside from the presidential race, the Vice President expressed her deep sense of pride and gratitude for having served alongside him. “It’s been an absolute privilege to be Joe Biden’s Vice President, and I consider it one of the highest honors of my life,” she remarked. Harris went on to highlight the extraordinary accomplishments that Biden had achieved throughout his career, as well as during his tenure in office, observing that his record was unparalleled in modern history. Her sentiments echoed the sentiments of other leading Democrats who had also paid tribute to Biden’s remarkable legacy.

During her speech, Harris drew on her experience as a courtroom prosecutor and California attorney general to draw a comparison between Trump and the criminals she had dealt with in the past. She specifically named scammers, sexual abusers, and fraudsters and boldly declared, “So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type.” As she wrapped up her speech, the crowd erupted in applause and chants of “Kamala, Kamala!”

“We must not forget that this campaign is about more than just us versus Donald Trump,” she emphasized. She further stated that the campaign is about fighting for the people, and unlike her opponent, they are running a campaign that is powered by the people.”

Harris asserted that in the upcoming 2024 election, there are two contrasting national visions in play. She emphasized that her campaign is centered on looking forward instead of dwelling on the past.

She stated her belief in a future where everyone can thrive instead of just surviving. She envisions a world where poverty is eradicated, unions are accessible to all workers, and healthcare, child care, and family leave are affordable for everyone. She emphasized that her presidency’s main objective will be to strengthen the middle class.

Harris passionately declared that the country cannot afford to go backward, referring to the Project 2025 agenda that Trump has denied being involved with. She asserted that their nation must keep moving forward and not look back. The crowd responded with enthusiastic chants of “We’re not going back!” as Harris emphasized the importance of progress.

In her concluding statement, Harris emphasized the importance of safeguarding democracy and positioned her campaign as a battle for liberty.

Amidst the enthusiastic crowd, she proclaimed that those who value the sanctity of the right to vote will ensure that every American can exercise their right to vote and have their vote accurately counted. She further stated that supporters of a violence-free society will pass crucial measures, such as red-flag laws, universal background checks, and an assault weapons ban. Additionally, those who stand for reproductive rights will fight against Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans.
