Two Local Butler County Men Denied Parole

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles told two men from Butler County, Lucky Baugh and Nicholas Kadeem Moorer that they couldn’t get out of jail. The hearings took place on June 28.

Baugh, a 41-year-old black man, has been in prison since March 2022 for third-degree burglary in Butler County. He has already served one year and five months of a 15-year term. Baugh had already done time for convictions in 2018 for third-degree burglary and second-degree theft of property. He had also done time for convictions in 2012 for third-degree burglary in Lowndes County and second-degree theft of property in Butler County.

Baugh is living at the Red Eagle Work Center right now.

According to the minutes of the board meeting, no one spoke up for or against Baugh’s request for release. The board decided not to give Baugh release, and his next hearing will be in June 2025.

Moorer, a black man who is 29 years old, is being held at the Bibb County Correctional Facility right now. He has a 10-year sentence for having a gun after a serious crime in Butler County, which starts in May 2022.

Moorer’s present sentence is because he broke his parole after being released from prison in 2017 after being found guilty of third-degree burglary in Lowndes County. According to records from the Alabama Department of Corrections, Moorer can’t be considered for parole until he has served at least until November 24, 2024.

Moorer’s release was not asked for or opposed by anyone who came before the board. The board voted to refuse parole without a date to try again.
