Police Officer from Montgomery Accused of Theft and Credit Card Fraud

On Tuesday, the Montgomery Police Department made a public statement regarding the arrest of one of their officers. This news has come as a shock to many, as it’s not often that a law enforcement officer is taken into custody.

According to Police Chief Darryl Albert, Gregory Harvey, aged 24, has been accused of committing one count of third-degree property theft and nine counts of fraudulent usage of a credit card.

According to Coleman, Harvey was informed of the criminal accusations and was promptly relieved of his duties and put on administrative leave on Tuesday.

It is still unclear what the exact allegations entail, however according to Albert, it involves the unauthorized use of a stolen credit card at multiple locations throughout the city.

According to Albert, the recent incident has tarnished the reputation of the department. However, he emphasized that it does not reflect the overall character of the department or the commendable efforts put forth by the officers on a daily basis.

According to the chief, the police department will be responsible for handling the case, but they will work closely with the district attorney’s office for guidance and support.

In 2020, Harvey became a member of the department and was assigned to the patrol division.
