MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Early this morning, firefighters in Montgomery responded to a potential structure fire on Plum Street.
The Montgomery Fire/Rescue department reported that at approximately 5:42 a.m., Engine 6, Engine 7, Truck 42, Rescue 90, and Car 31 all rushed to the 2600 block of Plum St. Upon arrival, the units discovered a vacant single-story residential home engulfed in heavy smoke and flames; the situation was declared a W3 working fire.
The crews initiated an exterior defence attack before proceeding inside after ensuring that the area was safe. As soon as they entered, primary and secondary searches were conducted, and the all-clear signal was received.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries sustained by civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Bureau of Investigations, and no additional information is available at this time.
