Is an Alabama man caught cold-handed? Accused of entering a home and stealing ice cream valued at $2.67

An Alabama guy was apprehended after reportedly entering into a home and stealing less than $3 in ice cream.

Dale Clinton Rhodes, 65, was apprehended by police in North Shelby, Alabama.

According to police, Rhodes entered the home of a man named Brandon Batton at about noon on Sunday, Aug. 20. Rhodes then stole $2.67 worth of an unidentified variety and quantity of ice cream.

Later that day, at 10:31 p.m., Rhodes was apprehended by police.

He has been accused of the following:

  • Third-degree burglary
  • Fourth-degree theft of property

A person is charged with third-degree burglary if he or she enters or remains unlawfully in another person’s home with the purpose of committing a crime. It is a Class-C felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.

Fourth-degree theft of property, on the other hand, is a misdemeanor charged when the stolen property is worth less than $500. Rhodes is now being jailed on a $11,000 bond.

This matter is currently being investigated, and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
