Following a fire, Park Crossing High School sets a date for reopening

MONTGOMERY, Ala. –  In-person learning at Park Crossing High School will soon be back in session, according to Montgomery Public Schools officials. The building is set to reopen on Monday, Aug. 21.

Since a fire damaged the school on Monday night, students have been participating in asynchronous learning from home. School officials have stated that this at-home work will continue for the rest of the week.

The fire broke out in the math department, ROTC area, and several other classrooms. Fortunately, no one was hurt as the building was empty at the time of the incident.

Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, school officials suspect that lightning could have sparked it.

The school board has passed an emergency declaration to ensure that the necessary repairs are made swiftly.
