BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a gunshot Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were summoned to Exotic Wings and Things on Green Springs Avenue South on allegations of a person shot, according to BPD Sergeant LaQuitta Wade. When they arrived, they discovered an adult woman with life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

The early inquiry indicates that the shooting was most likely accidental. The suspect remained on the scene and was taken into custody for questioning. According to Wade, the victim and suspect are related.
