District Attorney Daryl Bailey said a Montgomery man faces life in prison after being convicted of two counts of capital murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Elijah Reese was convicted of murder in the deaths of Gregory Cole on January 25, 2019, and Orangeal White on February 2, 2019. Reese was also convicted guilty of two counts of attempted murder by a Montgomery County jury. Circuit Judge Jimmy Pool will sentence Reese on September 7. He faces life in jail or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
“I am happy that my office could bring justice to the families of Mr. Cole and Mrs. White,” Bailey said. “There is simply no place in our community for violent criminals like Elijah Reese, who show no hesitation in taking a human life. My team will push for him to spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility of parole as he should never have the chance to terrorize or harm any of our citizens ever again.”
Reese fatally shot Cole near the 4500 block of Delray Road, according to testimony. He fired fire on Orangeal White’s vehicle in the 1200 block of Marlowe Drive a few days later. White was pronounced dead at the hospital after she and her daughter were transferred there. White’s spouse was also in the car but was unharmed.
Police looked at Reese as a suspect in White’s death after he put information on his social media page and on his phone. Investigators discovered multiple weapons and were able to match shot casings from both homicides after obtaining a search order for Reese’s residence.
