On Saturday, an argument between neighbors results in death in Scottsboro

Over the weekend, a fight between two friends in north Alabama killed one man and sent the other to jail, around 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Scottsboro Police were called to a residence on the 300 block of Maple Avenue in regards to a shooting.

Officers responded promptly and discovered a man with a gunshot wound at the scene. The individual was taken to Highlands Medical Center and later pronounced dead, according to Detective Sgt. Ryan Putman, the police department’s public relations officer. The man’s identity has not yet been released by police.

An inquiry by investigators revealed that the two had a disagreement, which resulted in the victim being shot.

According to Putman, Gerry Paul Kelly, 62, has been charged with murder.

Kelly will be detained at the Jackson County Jail.

The shooting is still being investigated by police.
