According to Iowa City Police, a man from Iowa County was taken into custody after he filmed himself drinking from a bottle of bourbon while a medical emergency was happening nearby. Now, he is facing a serious felony charge as he is accused of vandalizing a squad car.

Early Sunday morning, emergency services were dispatched to the 200 block of Iowa Avenue in response to a person who was suspected to have been drugged by their friends. While the individual was receiving medical care, Nelson Williams, a 36-year-old from Williamsburg, started recording himself on his phone as he consumed Maker’s Mark from a bottle. The police officer on the scene instructed Williams to surrender the bottle, which he reluctantly did and then proceeded to empty the contents of the bourbon bottle before advising Williams to return home.

According to reports, Williams has been accused of 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication, and Interference With Official Acts. If found guilty of all charges, he could potentially face a prison sentence of more than five years.
