The Texas City police department is seeking any information regarding the shooting that took place early Friday morning at a residence. The victim, a 46-year-old woman, was reportedly shot multiple times while she was asleep. The authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
In the early hours of the morning, a shooting occurred at a residence located on Heron Lane. Numerous individuals in the vicinity contacted 911, alerting authorities of numerous gunshots being fired.
Thornton Thomas Lewis was present in their residence during the incident, and he is currently extremely concerned about the safety and well-being of his partner with whom he shares a common-law relationship.
In an interview with ABC13, the man recounted the terrifying moment when he realized that their bedroom had been shot at. “She was asleep, and I was lying down, enjoying a beer when I heard the gunshots. Somebody just shot up our bedroom,” he said. The incident left them both shaken and frightened, highlighting the danger that can come with living in certain areas.
According to Lewis, he suddenly heard a barrage of bullets hitting his bedroom window. Reports indicated that the house was targeted with a hail of gunfire, with initial estimates suggesting that over 20 shots were fired.
According to Lewis, he made an attempt to convince his wife to seek shelter.
As he recounted the incident, he shared that he had instructed her to take cover. He followed his own advice and assumed she had done the same. However, it later became apparent that she had been hit and was attempting to tend to her wound.
As per the statement of the Texas City Police Department, the woman aged 46 was struck multiple times and has been transported to the hospital via Life Flight. She is currently in critical condition.
Throughout the night, investigators were actively scouring the area and conducting a thorough investigation at the residence. Captain Manuel from the Texas City Police Department has stated that this information has yet to be confirmed.
