A 14-year-old boy was caught planning a third act of vandalism at a school in Jackson County. The school had already been targeted before. The young suspect is now in custody, facing charges for the damage caused in both Bryant Elementary and North Sand Mountain High School.
The vandalism caused thousands of dollars in losses, including torn pictures, shattered trophies, damaged computers and TV screens, and spray-paint use across the property. Sheriff Rocky Harnan emphasized the severity of the situation, suggesting that it could have been even worse without quick intervention.
Despite this issue, the schools remained resilient and continued with their activities as planned. Jackson County School’s Superintendent, Jason Davidson, used the incident as an opportunity to encourage students to report suspicious activities to prevent similar cases in the future.
The young suspect is facing serious felony charges such as criminal mischief, burglary, and attempted burglary.
