Serial squatter leaves major mess in Rowlett home and goes on the move

During a recent visit to Rowlett, Texas, CBS News Texas was given a tour of a leased home owned by a North Texas homeowner. The home was previously occupied by Heather Schwab, who has been labeled a “serial squatter” due to her history of renting properties and not paying her dues. The homeowner shared his experience with CBS News Texas.

Upon arriving at his home, Colin Davis was prepared for a potential confrontation. To ensure his safety, he had requested the presence of police officers. However, upon entering his house, they discovered that it was completely empty. What they did find left behind was a mess of rotting food, cigarette butts, beer bottles, and other unsavory items. Davis even speculated that one of the bottles contained urine, leading him to believe that homeless individuals may have been squatting in his home.

Overall, Davis expresses a sense of relief.

During a conversation with Andrea Lucia, he expressed that the situation wasn’t as dire as he had initially anticipated. “I had braced myself for the worst – shattered shelves, broken mirrors, and gaping holes in the walls that we would have to repair,” he shared.

From what can be seen, Schwab made an attempt at painting part of the fireplace and cabinets, but the overall result is far from satisfactory. The place is now a cluttered mess, lacking any semblance of order or cleanliness.

During an interview with CBS News Texas, a representative from Aaron’s Furniture arrived to collect a refrigerator that was reportedly rented to Heather Ruybal.

According to Davis, the tenant in question lacks the necessary permission to occupy the premises. He made this clear during their conversation.

Schwab has used multiple aliases over the years, including Ruybal. This is just one of the many pieces of evidence that the Davises are gathering in the hopes that the legal system will one day hold her responsible for her actions. As reported by CBS News, the serial squatter is currently behind bars in Colorado.

According to recent reports, the Davises are still awaiting payment of several thousand dollars in rent, even though Schwab is no longer in the picture. Law enforcement officials in Rowlett have confirmed that they are currently investigating the matter and are in the process of building a case to present to the Dallas County DA’s Office.

For years, Schwab has been making headlines in Texas for her notorious actions of moving into homes and refusing to pay rent. CBS News Texas has been covering her story extensively, shedding light on her and her husband’s tactics of evading eviction. The locals have given them the nickname of “serial squatters” as they seem to know the eviction process better than some lawyers.
