While driving, the argument escalates into gunshots

Troup County deputies found their car on the side of the road on July 4 with a man who had been shot still inside. Three people had to describe what happened.

At about 7 p.m., the Chevrolet Malibu was found on the northbound side of Interstate 85 near the 16-mile sign. A woman and a guy were standing outside the car, and another man who had been shot several times was in the backseat.

Investigators found out that the woman, later named Renee Savage of Prattville, Alabama, was driving when her passenger, later named Roderick Hurst of Stockbridge, hit her in the head with something they didn’t know what it was.

Officials said that Savage kept driving while she took out a weapon and shot Hurst several times. After she shot him, she stopped for a while and helped him until the police came.

Investigators said that the man in the back seat was just a witness. They did not give out any information that could be used to find him.

Hurst’s injuries were not life-threatening, so he was taken to a hospital in Columbus to get care.

The police said that they are still looking into this. Charges have not been decided yet.
