Police are looking into the homicide of an Albany man near Plattsburgh

The investigation into the death of a man in a parking lot near Plattsburgh is still ongoing, according to the New York State Police.

According to police, an autopsy published Friday determined that Wayne Haupt, 53, of Albany, New York, died from numerous severe compressive blunt force injuries and that his death was a homicide.

Late on Wednesday evening, a tragic incident occurred at the Exit 36 Truckstop located south of Plattsburgh. According to witnesses, Haupt was struck by a vehicle whose description they provided. Eventually, State Police located the vehicle in Tupper Lake and was able to intercept it in Long Lake. The perpetrator, Thomas Lance, a 38-year-old from Albany, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was arraigned and is currently being held at the Clinton County jail without bail.
