NYC Woman Charged With Anti-Muslim Violence After Pouring Hot Coffee On Man

On Tuesday, a woman surrendered herself to the police in connection with a hate crime attack at a playground in New York City. The woman allegedly threw her cell phone and hot coffee at a man during the incident.

According to the police, Hadasa Bozakkaravani, a 48-year-old woman, allegedly made anti-Islamic remarks to the victim at Edmonds Playground in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, before attacking him. Bozakkaravani is currently facing a total of nine charges, with four of them being classified as hate crimes.

Amidst protests surrounding the Israel-Hamas war, tensions continue to rise in the United States. As a result, New York City has experienced a surge in hate crimes, with a particular increase in anti-Muslim attacks. As tensions continue to escalate over the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, hate crimes are reportedly on the rise in New York City. This concerning trend is a cause for alarm, as the city has seen a surge in violence against minority groups in recent years. It is crucial that steps are taken to address this issue and ensure the safety and security of all residents.

According to the latest citywide crime statistics released by the NYPD, the Hate Crime Task Force investigated a significantly higher number of bias incidents last month. The total number of cases rose by 124%, indicating a concerning trend in the city.

On October 7, the latest conflict was initiated as Hamas militants launched an attack. Following the attack, Israel has launched a series of attacks on Gaza, resulting in the deaths of more than 11,000 individuals, as reported by the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

In the current month, the city has documented eight probes into crimes targeting Muslims, whereas no such incidents were reported in the same period last year. Additionally, New York City has witnessed a significant surge of 214% in anti-Jewish incidents in comparison to October 2022.
