New York City Animal Care Centers closed dog surrenders due to capacity

ACC is currently facing a crisis in animal care.

Due to a lack of space, the shelter system has announced that they can no longer accommodate dogs. They have reached their maximum capacity and have decided to suspend the intake of new dogs. The shelters will now concentrate on providing care for the dogs that are already residing in their facilities.

Despite the current situation, adoption centers are still open and welcoming those who are interested in adopting a furry friend. Although they may not be taking in dogs at the moment due to limited space, other resources such as pet food, supplies, and veterinary care are still available to those in need. Rest assured that these centers are doing everything they can to ensure the safety and well-being of their animals and staff during these challenging times.

If you have the means, ACC strongly encourages you to consider fostering or adopting a dog during this time. The shelter is currently exploring options to resolve the issue and hopes to resume dog intakes in the near future.

Approximately three months ago, ACC experienced a problem with cat intakes, which has since been resolved.

On Monday, New York City witnessed the opening of its first public beachfront at Gansevoort Peninsula in Hudson River Park. The long-awaited event has finally come to fruition, much to the excitement of the locals. Crystal Cranmore brings us the story.
