A verdict has been reached in the case of a hit-and-run incident that took place in Lockport last year. The accused has been found guilty of leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle incident, which resulted in loss of life.
According to a recent statement from the Niagara County District Attorney’s office, Nathan Marziale, a 39-year-old Lockport resident, was involved in an incident in February 2022 where he allegedly hit a person on Dysinger Road. The victim was reportedly assisting another individual whose vehicle had become stuck in the snow at the time of the accident.
According to prosecutors, Rafael Medina-Gonzalez, who was 28 years old, was the victim in the incident. It was reported that he remained on Marziale’s vehicle as he drove off, and his body was later discovered in a snow bank approximately two miles away from where the collision occurred.
District Attorney Brian Seaman expressed that the incident was extremely traumatic for Mr. Medina-Gonzalez’s co-worker and fiancée, who were present and witnessed it. He also stated that the defendant’s sole concern that night was for himself. The jury’s verdict in this case was undoubtedly correct.
Come November, Marziale is poised to receive a sentence of between two and one-third to seven years in state prison.
