According to Captain Guido Bussinelli, the dispatch center was inundated with calls during the early morning hours of September 23rd.
After gathering evidence from multiple sources, Detective Lt. Kevin Hebert was able to obtain surveillance footage from various victims and a nearby establishment. Bussinelli had admitted to using credit cards stolen from vehicles belonging to local residents, which were also captured on the video. Hebert’s swift action in collecting these crucial pieces of evidence helped move the investigation forward.
According to the captain, the Mahwah Police Department’s investigation and patrol divisions initiated surveillance on the last known addresses of the suspects as soon as they were identified.
Following the acquisition of further details, Detective Sgt. Eric Larsen secured authorization to execute a search warrant on one of the identified locations.

The following step after that was the issuance of arrest warrants.
