Luzerne County Police Arrest Speeding New Jersey Man with ‘Dangerous Drugs’ Warrants

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a man from New Jersey who had multiple drug-related warrants was apprehended on Monday in Butler Township, located in Luzerne County.

Police reports reveal that on Interstate 80 West, near Mile Marker 267, a man from Newark, N.J., named Derrick Gary, aged 48, was pulled over by the authorities for speeding. Records indicate that he was driving at a speed of 83 mph in a 65 mph zone, which was the reason for the traffic stop. The incident happened around 10:20 p.m.

Police officials reported that upon conducting a records check of Gary, they discovered that he had multiple warrants for dangerous drugs from Essex County, which were extraditable felonies. As a result, Gary was apprehended and taken to Luzerne County Jail, where he will remain until he is extradited to New Jersey.

The Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating the case. No further information has been released regarding the ongoing investigation.
