According to the Pueblo Department (PPD), an investigation spanning several months into stolen vehicles throughout Southern Colorado has led to the arrest of five minors. One of the minors is facing charges of Attempted First Degree Murder, which is related to a shooting incident that occurred in August 2023.
According to PPD, an ongoing investigation has led detectives to recover several stolen vehicles, including Kia and Hyundai models, from Pueblo, Fountain, and Colorado Springs. The investigation has revealed that a group of minors, comprising both boys and girls aged between 12 to 15 years, call themselves “The Kia Boys.”
According to the police, eight minors have been issued arrest warrants for various charges including motor vehicle theft, robbery, and criminal mischief. As of October 20th, five out of the eight have been apprehended as per the warrants and have been detained in juvenile detention facilities. Complying with state law, they have been released with monitoring devices.
According to PPD, a teenager who is a member of the “Kia Boys” was taken into custody on eight counts of stealing motor vehicles. The 15-year-old was also identified as a suspect in a shooting that took place in Pueblo on August 17, 2023. Following an investigation by detectives, an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder was issued, and the teenager was subsequently apprehended and sent to a juvenile detention center.
