The father of JonBenét Ramsey has vowed to take legal action against law enforcement if it is discovered that the killer of his daughter went on to harm other children while they were focused on wrongly accusing him and his wife. He believes that the investigation into their family was baseless and unfounded, and any further harm caused to innocent children would be a direct result of their mishandling of the case. He is determined to hold those responsible accountable for their actions and make sure that justice is served.
According to sources, John Ramsey, the father of the late JonBenet Ramsey, has met twice this year with Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold to discuss his daughter’s tragic murder case that has remained unsolved for nearly 27 years. The meeting is a clear indication that the family is still searching for answers and hoping for a breakthrough in the case. The murder of JonBenet Ramsey remains one of the most high-profile and mysterious cases in American history, with many questions still unanswered.
In the wee hours of the morning, John and his wife Patsy were jolted awake by an alarming discovery – a strange and perplexing ransom note that spanned three pages. The note was specifically directed towards John and demanded an exorbitant amount of $118,000 as ransom for their daughter’s safe return.
On that fateful day, the alleged kidnappers never reached out and unfortunately, JonBenét was discovered deceased by her father in a room that the family infrequently used, commonly known as the “wine cellar.” The tragic news of her death left the nation in shock and disbelief.
After JonBenet Ramsey’s murder, John and Patsy were quickly targeted as the main suspects and were under scrutiny for over ten years. However, in 2008, they were cleared of any wrongdoing through DNA evidence. Recently, Gary Oliva has emerged as another suspect in the case.
The investigation by Boulder PD has remained shrouded in secrecy for several years now, with no information being released to the public. Despite this, no arrests have been made nor charges filed.
John had a meeting with Herold some months ago where he shared that the police chief made a promise to resolve his daughter’s case once and for all. This conversation gave John a glimmer of hope that justice would finally be served.
During their hour-long one-on-one meeting, the 79-year-old expressed his optimism and stated that he felt “encouraged” by their discussions. He further extended an olive branch to the department, suggesting that they let bygones be bygones and start afresh with a clean slate.
John expressed his utmost desire to put an end to the cloud of uncertainty that has been looming over his family for decades. He yearns to see justice served and the perpetrator, whom he refers to as a “monster,” brought to justice for the harm inflicted upon his daughter. Recently, there has been talk of utilizing DNA evidence that was previously hidden by the police to finally bring closure to this long-standing case. John remains hopeful that this will be the breakthrough that his family has been waiting for.
According to him, in case the perpetrator caused harm to any other children while the police were busy chasing him and Patsy, any agreement made between him and Boulder PD would be swiftly cancelled without any formalities.
In a recent interview with The U.S. Sun, John expressed his desire to clear the grey cloud that has been hovering over his family. He acknowledged the need for resolution and closure, emphasizing the importance of moving forward from the past.
It’s unclear whether the killer responsible for these heinous crimes is currently incarcerated, deceased, or still at large. What is certain, however, is that this individual is a highly dangerous psychopath who specifically targets innocent children. The thought of this predator roaming free is deeply unsettling and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and protective measures when it comes to safeguarding our youth.
“I am determined to not only clear my family’s name but also to eliminate this menace from the streets. It is my top priority to put an end to this creature’s reign of terror and ensure the safety of the people in our community.”
He continued to stress that if it is discovered that this individual has taken the lives of other innocent children since JonBenet’s tragic death, he will become the Boulder police’s biggest adversary.
“I will hold accountable those who have failed in their duties and whose negligence has resulted in the loss of innocent lives.”
“It’s uncertain whether that’s the scenario, but it does appear to be a feasible possibility.”
“If this is indeed the case, I will not hesitate to call out those responsible by name and hold them accountable for the tragic loss of these innocent children. Their neglect and failure to fulfill their duties have led to this devastating outcome, and they must bear the responsibility for it.”
ENCOURAGING SIGNS
John has made a commitment to provide the Boulder Police Department with all the necessary time, space, and support to bring closure to his daughter’s case. At present, this remains his top priority, and he will leave no stone unturned until justice is served.
Earlier this year, John requested a meeting with Chief Herold, which was accepted by the department.
In January, he had the opportunity to meet with Boulder PD alongside his eldest son, John Andrew Ramsey. They reconvened with Herold and her deputy chief in June, this time with the presence of Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty. Recently, John Andrew Ramsey broke his silence and shared a major update on the JonBenét Ramsey case.
During previous meetings, John and his son always felt that the department was solely focused on pursuing John Sr. or Patsy, and no other individuals.
According to John, this year’s gatherings had a different vibe. He noticed that law enforcement seemed less distant and hostile than they had been in previous years. In fact, he felt that they were more approachable and open to discussion. John’s observations suggest that there may have been a shift in the way that law enforcement is approaching these meetings, which could have positive implications for future discussions.
According to the elder Ramsey, the meeting was a source of encouragement. Although the investigators did not reveal much about the investigation, they assured the family that they were fully dedicated to solving the case. The investigators mentioned having multiple meetings with various individuals, but did not disclose their identities.
“I believe the crucial factor here is the introduction of fresh leadership from beyond the confines of the department. This development holds great significance considering the fact that we had witnessed the promotion of three different police chiefs from within the department over the course of 25 years in the past.”
“It’s not feasible to promote an individual to lead a dysfunctional organization and expect it to transform. It simply doesn’t work.”
“I had the opportunity to meet with both the chief and assistant chief, and I must say, I was impressed with them both.”
My stance on the matter is clear: if it is found that this individual has taken the lives of other innocent children since JonBenet’s tragic death, I will stop at nothing to hold the Boulder police accountable for their inaction. This is a matter of justice, and I am fully committed to ensuring that justice is served for all those affected by this heinous crime.
In response to the ongoing situation, John expressed his hope that the parties involved are sincere in their actions and that they will prioritize the necessary measures that have been suggested to address the issue. He also mentioned his willingness to give them ample time to do so. As quoted by John, “My hope is that they are doing what they say they’re going to do and that they will take seriously the requests we’ve made as to what we think needs to be done – and I’m going to give them time to do that.”
As we delve into this fresh start, there’s a sense of hope that prevails. We’ve had countless discussions on how to approach this, and I have faith that if we stick to our plan, we may finally uncover the answers we seek.
“We can only expect individuals to do their best and get a positive outcome. If they have executed all possible measures and still haven’t achieved the desired result, then we can’t ask for anything more.”
JOHN’S DEMANDS
At his most recent meeting with the Boulder PD, John emphasized that he has two non-negotiable demands that he believes are crucial in uncovering the identity of his daughter’s murderer. According to John, these demands are essential in finally bringing justice to his family and finding closure for the tragic loss of his daughter. As previously reported, Gary Oliva has confessed to killing JonBenét Ramsey while in prison, but John is determined to uncover the truth and ensure that the real culprit is held accountable for their heinous actions.
According to him, the initial appeal was to examine various evidence pieces for DNA, which were not investigated during the initial stages of the investigation after the murder of JonBenet Ramsey in December 1996. This includes the garrote that was discovered lodged in the young beauty queen’s neck. The request aimed to shed new light on the case and potentially uncover crucial evidence that may have been missed previously.
According to John, despite Boulder PD’s reluctance to conduct new DNA tests due to the fear of destroying the small sample they have left, he believes that the significant advancements in DNA technology over the last 25 years make it possible to conduct new tests without causing any damage to the existing sample. Recently, there have been reports about new DNA evidence in the JonBenet Ramsey case, and John’s statement highlights the importance of utilizing modern technology to uncover the truth.
In the right hands, even an incredibly small sample can be used to develop a profile nowadays.
John has made a second request to BPD to turn over all DNA evidence yielded to a state-of-the-art genealogy lab, after re-testing the other items of evidence that were previously screened. This move is seen as a crucial step towards advancing the investigation into the Gilgo Beach case. The goal is to use the latest technology available to identify the killer and bring justice to the victims’ families. The genealogy lab is expected to analyze the DNA samples and provide valuable information that can help law enforcement agencies solve the case.
John explained that they have witnessed remarkable success stories with genealogy labs, even in cases that date back many years. Therefore, their two primary objectives for these labs are to achieve similar results and solve long-standing cases.
The DNA collected from the crime scene can be utilized by labs to create a reverse family tree, which can help narrow down potential suspects who were present in Boulder in 1996 and fit the given profile.
To ensure accurate DNA results, it is crucial for individuals to seek out one of the few advanced DNA labs in the country rather than relying on government labs.
According to the FBI, the government is currently lacking the latest technology. As a result, they advise seeking assistance from external laboratories. The hope is that they will abide by this recommendation.
A ‘CRIMINAL’ FAILURE
According to John Ramsey, the key to solving his daughter’s case lies in the DNA evidence. However, he believes that the culprit may not be someone who was previously suspected by detectives. Instead, the perpetrator may come from “left field” and have never been on the radar of law enforcement before. Ramsey’s hope is that the DNA evidence will eventually lead to the identification of his daughter’s killer.
According to him, the main issue he has with BPD is their unwillingness to seek assistance from external sources such as the FBI and state police. This has been a longstanding concern of his, as he believes that outside help could greatly benefit the department and the community it serves.
“If they had taken the right steps after JonBenét’s murder,” John reflects, “the killer would have been apprehended almost instantly.”
He expressed his criticism towards Boulder PD, stating that they had not accepted assistance from individuals who could have aided them in the case. He believed that this was the second tragedy in the situation.
According to seasoned homicide detectives, this case could have been easily solved if they had the proper resources right from the start.
Over the years, many experienced individuals have offered their help to solve this problem, but it has always been refused.
“At best, it is unwise and at worst, it is illegal,” said the speaker.
John has made a promise to Chief Herold that he will evaluate her and her department based solely on their own performance, without letting his past experiences with previous individuals cloud his judgment.
He further mentioned, “We’ll wait and observe the situation to see how it unfolds.”
“We will not hesitate to take action if we observe that no progress is being made and the same issues are persisting. We will hold them accountable and take necessary measures.”
FRESH EYES GRANTED
The authorities at the Boulder Police Department have been reached out to for their statement on the matter.
The department has a standard practice of refraining from commenting on ongoing investigations. They have issued a statement that reads, “This is an open and ongoing investigation, and as a result, we are unable to provide any interviews or comment on specific aspects of this crime.”
Recently, the Boulder Daily Camera reported that the Colorado Cold Case Review Team will be conducting a thorough investigation of JonBenét’s murder. The Boulder Police Department will be working closely with the team to ensure that this investigation is completed by the end of the year. This review has been long-awaited by many who hope to finally find answers in this unsolved case.
The collaboration, aimed at providing a new perspective on the case, was initially disclosed in November 2022. It marks the first time that an external party will be involved in the matter.
Interestingly, the announcement was made at the same time as the transfer of a seasoned BPD investigator, Thomas Trujillo. Trujillo had been leading the JonBenét investigation for several years.
During previous interviews with The U.S. Sun, John accused Trujillo of being a hindrance in his daughter’s case. He claimed that Trujillo disregarded any evidence that did not implicate John or his wife Patsy. In one instance, John even referred to Trujillo as a roadblock in the investigation. Recently, Trujillo has come under scrutiny as a possible suspect in the case.
In the previous year, it was made public that Trujillo had been moved to night patrol. This was a result of an internal investigation that discovered he and a few other officers had not correctly investigated several cases.
BPD has made a commitment to collaborate with various agencies and organizations to solve the case. Along with the Cold Case Review Team, they will be working alongside the FBI, the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, the Colorado Department of Public Safety, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and multiple private DNA labs located throughout the United States.
During an interview on Monday morning, John Ramsey expressed his approval of the repurposing of Trujillo, calling it “encouraging”. He believes that this move reflects a positive shift in attitude that is taking place within the BPD ranks.
In his recollection of the conversation, he noted that he picked up on a change in their demeanor. “I sensed that they had warmed up to us and were truly invested in finding a solution,” he shared.
It’s unbelievable that the detective, Thomas Trujillo, who was in charge of our case for 25 long years, was actually recommended for termination by the citizen review board.
“Afterwards, they assigned him to night patrol duty. It’s a relief that he’s no longer handling our case. It’s for the best, as he wasn’t effective in his previous role.”
