Investigation underway for crashes on Hutchinson River Parkway at Westchester-Bronx border leading to shutdown

On one of the busiest travel days of the year, a major roadway along the Westchester-Bronx border was shut down due to a pair of crash investigations.

After several hours of closure, the southbound lane of Hutchinson River Parkway has finally reopened. Video footage obtained from the Citizen app revealed the Westchester County police providing assistance to the New York Police Department’s investigation of a car accident that resulted in a fatality on Monday.

According to investigators, the reason behind the car veering off the road and hitting a pole and tree between exits 4 and 3 is not yet determined. The investigation started at around 3 a.m. and resulted in the closure of the parkway, causing traffic to back up into Westchester.

The Hutchinson south in Pelham Manor was closed once again by the NYPD for a crash investigation. Another unfortunate incident had occurred, leading the investigators to tow a motorcycle from the scene.
