Former DOJ Official Delivers Three Blunt Words to Trump Regarding Appeal Winning Chances

According to reports, former president Donald Trump has expressed his intentions to appeal a summary judgment that found him guilty of committing fraud in New York. The judgment concluded that Trump had been overvaluing his assets for years, leading to the charge. The former president has been reported to have started planning his appeal, despite the severity of the allegations.

When questioned about the ex-president’s likelihood of succeeding in the appeal, a former Justice Department official provided a straightforward evaluation.

According to former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal, the legal case presented by Trump’s attorneys was “not much” and the chances of success were slim to none. Katyal shared this opinion during an interview with MSNBC’s Katie Phang on Monday.

In the ongoing civil case, Trump’s legal team is left with only a single “somewhat compelling” argument – that the value of real estate is prone to fluctuations.

However, even with the one solution presented, there are still two significant issues that need to be addressed.

According to him, using argument as a strategy for negotiation can only be effective in cases where there are slight variations involved, such as when a condominium is appraised at $100,000 but later sells for $105,000.

According to Katyal, the situation is entirely different. He pointed out that Trump made a false claim about his penthouse, saying that it was 33,000 square feet when in reality it was only 10,000 square feet.

“He made colossal errors,” he said, emphasizing the magnitude of the mistake.

According to Katyal, there is another problem that needs to be addressed, which is that all of the errors in valuations seem to have worked out in his favor.

According to his statement, the valuation differences never seemed to work against him. The benefits of valuation differences always seemed to work in his favor. If there were times where the valuation differences did not work in his favor, it would be a different story.

According to his statement, it appears that Trump’s defense attorneys are in for a rough ride ahead. He mentioned that the road ahead is quite bumpy and unpredictable.
