According to the NYPD, the shooting occurred at the Bedford-Stuyvesant location of the hardware store on Saturday shortly after noon in the parking lot.
According to Stacee Glenn, a witness to the incident, the perpetrator drove up alongside the victims and began firing shots at them. The male victim reportedly yelled out, “I gave him the parking spot!” before the shooting began.
In the aftermath of the shooting, a couple in their mid-20s sped away from the parking lot in their white Hyundai Sonata. They eventually came to a stop a few blocks away at the intersection of Nostrand and Myrtle Avenues where they called for help.
As I approached the woman, I noticed that she was in a slumped position and was not responding to any stimuli.
According to Yadelyn Pena, a 14-year-old eyewitness, the car came to a halt while she was standing outside the Duane Reade on Nostrand and Myrtle. This information was reported by the Daily News.
According to her, the man seemed to have come to the realization that he was running out of time, so he decided to jump out of the car and seek assistance. She further mentioned that he had sustained injuries to both his leg and back.
“When I asked him what was wrong, he showed me a picture of his girlfriend,” recounted Pena.
According to Pena, she quickly called 911 for help.
“The police took their time arriving, it felt like an eternity. It appeared as though she had passed away,” recounted the witness.
As per the teenager’s account, he noticed her fingers moving and expressed his hope that she is doing well.
Anlly Burgos, who is 38 years old and Pena’s mother, shared that she did her best to console the woman until assistance arrived.
As she recounted the harrowing experience, she shared how she had held the woman’s hand, assuring her that everything would be alright. Soon after, the authorities arrived and instructed everyone to step back.
According to Burgos, the victim was rendered speechless. She only spoke once to the police when she revealed her name, and after that, she remained completely silent.
The boyfriend was in a state of panic and was worried about the worst possible outcome.
As per the woman’s account, her boyfriend was in a state of extreme distress and sadness. He urgently called for help and expressed concern for his girlfriend’s safety. Despite being shot in his back and leg, he prioritized the well-being of his partner and urged for her safety to be ensured.
According to the authorities, both the victims were taken to Kings County Hospital, where the woman’s condition was reported as critical.
