Delaware man kidnaps 11-year-old New Jersey girl after online gaming; faces charges

According to recent reports, a man from Delaware has been taken into custody and accused of abducting an 11-year-old girl from New Jersey. The authorities have stated that the suspect met the victim through an online gaming platform.

According to a news release from the office of Passaic County prosecutor Camelia Valdes on Thursday, the girl was reported missing on Sept. 10 and was later found and recovered from a small Delaware community. An arrest was made in connection with the kidnapping investigation.

A 27-year-old man by the name of Darius Matylewich is currently facing charges of kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child. According to reports, he allegedly lured a young girl he met while playing an online video game and took her from her hometown of Wayne, New Jersey, to his own hometown of Bear, Delaware, which is approximately 140 miles away. The severity of these allegations is definitely cause for concern and has raised awareness about the dangers of interacting with strangers online.

There is uncertainty regarding whether or not Matylewich has legal representation. As of Monday, he was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing that will determine whether or not he is eligible for release or if he will be detained until his trial.

After being apprehended by the New Castle County Police in Delaware, Matylewich was taken into custody and extradited to New Jersey to face charges. If found guilty, he could potentially face over 30 years in prison.
