Brooklyn crash resulting in the death of a scooter driver leads to arrest of unlicensed driver

According to officials, Waki Knight, who is 41 years old, was driving his Gaijin scooter on Third Avenue near 51st Street in Sunset Park around 1 p.m. when he lost control.

According to authorities, a 26-year-old named Justin Vargas was driving a red 2022 Honda when Knight collided with his vehicle.

After sustaining a devastating head injury, the driver of the scooter was immediately transported to NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the driver was pronounced dead at the hospital.

As per the police report, Knight was not wearing a helmet during the accident.

According to the NYPD, Vargas was apprehended at the location and arrested for driving with a suspended license. He stayed at the scene until the officers arrived and took him into custody.

According to officials, he was accused of operating without a proper license.

According to a report by WABC-TV, a firearm was discovered at the location where the incident occurred.

The authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
