Brighton police arrest man with car trouble for attempted murder warrant after he calls for assistance

This morning, a man from Brighton found himself in an unexpected situation after he reached out to the police for assistance.

At around 3 a.m. on Thursday, Larry Darnell Pinkard, aged 61, contacted the Brighton Police Department.

Asking for a jump start, the man indicated that his vehicle was located on Oakmont Street in the 200 block.

Upon arriving at the scene, the Brighton police officers immediately started the process of verifying the ownership of the vehicle belonging to Pinkard. During this verification process, Lt. Kenneth Hooten revealed that the officers discovered that Pinkard was a wanted man.

According to reports, Pinkard was facing charges for attempted murder and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. There were outstanding warrants against him for these offenses.

On the morning of August 12th, a collision occurred at 39th Street in Brighton, precisely at 11 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, the first responders discovered a 61-year-old man who claimed to have been lying there throughout the entire night.

According to Hooten, the victim reported that Pinkard had not only hit him with his vehicle but also reversed and ran over him a second time.

According to Hooten, Pinkard was informed about the warrants against him on September 26th when they were issued.

According to Hooten, the situation was quite peculiar. “Imagine needing to call the police for a jumpstart, but you know you have an outstanding warrant for attempted murder. How do you even handle that?” he stated. “As it turns out, he got more than just a jump off his car – he got a one-way ticket to jail.”

At 3:54 a.m. today, Pinkard was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $58,000.
