The return of Taylor Swift is something that NFL fans can look forward to.
According to reports, the pop star will be present at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night to witness the AFC West rivalry game between Travis Kelce and the Chiefs facing off against Russell Wilson and the Broncos. The game will be broadcasted on Amazon Prime Video.
Swift will be returning to a Chiefs game for the first time since the SNF game a few weeks ago at MetLife Stadium. During the game, NBC’s coverage of Swift was excessive as Kansas City went on to secure a victory over the Jets.
During Thursday night’s game, how will Amazon cover Swift? According to Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina, he spoke with the play-by-play legend Al Michaels, who will be on the TNF call with Kirk Herbstreit, to get some insights about it on Thursday morning.
Moderation was emphasized by Michaels as the key word.
Michaels emphasized the importance of moderation for the night’s event. He shared that their crew discussed it earlier and agreed that the sideshow should not overpower the main show, which is the football game. While acknowledging that some viewers may be satisfied with continuous footage of the sideshow, Michaels clarified that their team aims to cater to the majority of the audience who are there to watch the game. Thus, they will not be focusing solely on the sideshow throughout the night.
“We may capture a few shots, but it’s hard to say how many. For instance, if Kelce scores six touchdowns, we’ll have to figure something out. However, we don’t want to overdo it. Ultimately, the game is the main focus, and that’s what matters most. Our approach is to keep it balanced and not make it too over-the-top, as that would be counterproductive. To put it simply, we don’t want it to become farcical.”
Once more, he emphasized the significance of the M word.
According to Michaels, the key to a balanced approach is moderation. He believes that everything should be done in moderation, and when you hit a certain point, you should acknowledge it and move on. As he puts it, “There she is. O.K. Got it.”
As the interview drew to a close, Traina posed a crucial question to Michaels: what is her favorite Taylor Swift song?
He said that his granddaughter and her friends are completely obsessed with Taylor Swift. They even went to one of her concerts in L.A. and spent a whole month preparing for it.
