The Texas City police department is seeking assistance in an investigation regarding a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday. According to reports, a 46-year-old woman was shot multiple times while she was asleep in her home. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help them solve this case.
Thornton Thomas Lewis was present in the home during that time, and he is now extremely concerned about the safety and well-being of his common-law wife.
In an interview with ABC13, he recounted the terrifying moment when someone fired shots at their bedroom. “She was fast asleep, and I was just lying there, sipping on a cold beer,” he said. “But then suddenly, I heard the loud sound of gunshots, and I knew that something terrible was happening.”
According to Lewis, he made an effort to persuade his wife to seek shelter.
As per the statement, “I instructed her to get down,” he recounted. “I followed suit and assumed that she had done the same, but as it turns out, she had been hit and was struggling to hold on.”
As per the statement from the Texas City Police Department, the woman who is 46 years old, was struck multiple times. She was then immediately airlifted to a hospital where she is currently in a critical condition.
Throughout the night, the investigators were busy canvassing the vicinity and conducting an extensive investigation at the residence. Although some callers to 911 initially reported the shooting as a drive-by, it was not confirmed by Texas City Police Captain Manuel.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and have yet to gather any information on the perpetrator(s).
