A teen was killed during a brawl on a DC street, and a man was shot while trying to assist

A tragic incident occurred in northeast D.C. where a fight ended in gunfire, resulting in the death of a teenager and injury of a man.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, gunshots were reported in the 2300 block of Washington Place, close to the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metro Station.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered that a young adolescent and an adult male had sustained gunshot injuries.

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was admitted to the hospital. Sadly, the teenager was rushed to the same hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

According to the authorities, the individual who lost his life in the shooting incident was a 17-year-old boy named Antonio Cunningham. Reports suggest that he was caught up in a scuffle that broke out, and when the attackers fired shots, he tried to intervene, resulting in his death.

According to authorities, the culprits were donning masks in black and blue hues during the incident. One of them was carrying a black firearm while all three fled the scene in a black SUV.
