A man from Ashford caused a fuel spill on a Florida highway

DOTHAN, Ala. – On a Tuesday morning, a crash involving a man from Ashford led to hundreds of gallons of fuel being spilled on a Florida highway.

The accident occurred on State Road 286 in Florida when the 47-year-old driver of a tractor/trailer type truck failed to stay in a single lane, causing the vehicle to cross the centre line and run off the roadway towards the east shoulder.

The truck then continued southbound into the east shoulder ditch, colliding with several trees before coming to a stop in the ditch, facing south.

The collision caused the fuel tank the truck was carrying to overturn onto its driver’s side and suffer significant damage, resulting in severe leakage of fuel, estimated to be around 400 gallons.

All the appropriate agencies were notified and responded accordingly. The driver appeared to have suffered minor injuries, and their identity will remain unknown due to Florida laws.

The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m., and no further information is currently available.
