A man from Michigan City was caught delivering drugs to his customers instead of pizza. Reports indicate that he was going door to door delivering methamphetamine and marijuana. Authorities intervened and arrested him for his illegal activities.
Last week, Indiana State Police arrested Jamel Williams, a 43-year-old man, during a traffic stop right outside Michigan City. As per the court documents, Williams was caught accepting orders on his cell phone while driving to South Bend and back repeatedly that night. He made these trips to cater to the drug requirements of his customers.
Assisted by a K9 dog, law enforcement officers discovered a staggering 16 grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of marijuana in the car. Williams insisted that the meth was solely for his personal use. Nevertheless, upon examining his cellphone, text messages were found that implicated him in drug trafficking.
During the investigation, it was discovered that he was on his way to deliver drugs to a customer staying at Dunes Inn. However, the police pulled him over before he could reach the motel. The incident occurred in the vicinity of U.S. 421 and 400 North.
La Porte Superior Court 1 has filed charges against Williams for the possession and distribution of methamphetamine.
The drug-dealing count alone could result in a sentence of up to 30 years for him.
