Red Cross team from Alabama sent to Texas in preparation for Hurricane Beryl

The Red Cross in Alabama is currently getting ready for the arrival of Beryl in Texas, even as Red Cross societies in the Caribbean are already providing storm relief assistance.

A group of five individuals has been dispatched to Houston with the objective of establishing emergency shelters for those who may be affected by an impending hurricane.

Annette Rowland with the Red Cross of Alabama-Mississippi emphasized that their top priority is to ensure that people have a secure place to seek refuge from the storm’s effects.

This weekend, an additional team will be dispatched to deliver a larger quantity of supplies, including tarps, water, and meal kits.

Rowland stated that the impact of Beryl is yet to be determined until it reaches land, but with the presence of people there, they can respond promptly.

At present, Alabamians are being urged by the Red Cross to reach out to their loved ones residing in Texas and ensure their well-being.

She emphasized the importance of checking in with family members who may be in the path of Beryl. It is crucial to ensure that they are safe and have a plan in place in case of emergency.

The state’s willingness to provide assistance, even in situations that extend beyond its borders, is a heartwarming gesture of kindness.

According to Rowland, Alabama is a place full of generous people who are always willing to lend a helping hand. She believes that this is because the people there know what it’s like to be in need and have experienced the kindness of others in their own lives.
