JSO says: Subcontractor falls to his death while painting church

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a subcontractor died Sunday morning after falling from a ladder while working on a construction.

Around 12:30 p.m., the man was painting the roof trim at St. Stephen AME Church on West 5th Street. According to police, he fell from a two-story ladder.

JSO estimated the man’s age to be between 50 and 60 years old.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has been contacted.

During the renovations, church services are held off-site.
