In St. Clair County, a kidnapping and rape suspect charged with murder

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. – In St. Clair County, a Greenville man who made headlines last year for his alleged involvement in a run of violent incidents has been charged with murder.

Michael Butler, 36, is charged with the shooting death of Victoria Malet, 54, of Lincoln, whose body was recovered near Pell City in November 2022.

Butler was caught and charged with the kidnapping and rape of two adolescent girls in Prattville just days before Malet’s body was discovered.

Butler was taken into the St. Clair County Jail on Tuesday and is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
