On Wednesday morning, shots were fired at a fire station in Birmingham.
The firefighters were doing regular morning work at Station 9 on 27th Street in the Norwood area.
Police Chief Scott Thurmond said that the bay door was open and that a man or men went into the building. Capt. Orlando Reynolds said that the shooting took place inside the station at 8:30 a.m.
Reynolds says that the two firemen were taken to UAB Hospital in serious condition.
At this time, the police think that this killing was planned. No one has been taken into custody, and police said they are trying to find out more about possible suspects.
Thurmond said, “I find it extremely troubling,”
