An Alabama teenager who was found guilty of murdering several family members has been given a life sentence four years after the conviction.
According to the presiding judge, the crime committed by Mason Sisk was described as “ghastly” and “disturbing,” resulting in a life sentence being handed down.
According to a report by AP News, Circuit Judge Chadwick Wise expressed that the heinous crime was steeped in “unmitigated evil” as he delivered the maximum sentence permitted by law.
The news outlet AP News reported that Mason Sisk, at first, informed the police that he heard the sound of gunshots while playing video games in the basement and later rushed outside only to see a vehicle leaving the scene. However, he eventually confessed to being involved in other murders.
According to state statistics reported by Uncovered, Alabama’s murder rate was at 12.9. In the year 2016, Montgomery alone witnessed almost 30 murders.
According to statistics, Alabama has a high number of murder cases, making it one of the most committed crimes in the state. In 2019, the state reported a total of 358 murders, which ranked 9th in the country in terms of rates.
