An Alabama woman, who had previously been wanted for robbing someone outside a Lowe’s in North Carolina, recently burglarized a jewelry store and discharged bear spray inside.
According to a previous report by The Messenger, Heather Denise Wright, 32, is said to have pulled out the bear spray after sharing some holiday cheer.
According to the store owner’s recollection, a woman allegedly targeted Jeff Dennis Jewelers in Gardendale, Alabama. The incident took place on Wednesday, and the store is located about 10 miles north of Birmingham. The woman entered the store wearing a face mask and reportedly said, “Happy holidays. I don’t want to hurt y’all, but I am.”
As soon as she started spraying bear repellent from a canister, Jeff Dennis, the store owner, responded by firing at her.
“I had no choice but to react when she began using the bear spray. I had no idea what would happen next,” Dennis explained.
Dennis expressed in a Facebook post that the experience was traumatic for everyone involved, but he acknowledged that it could have been far more devastating.
According to the police, Wright has been charged with three counts of first-degree robbery and three counts of criminal use of defense spray.
In August, local CBS affiliate WBTV reported that police issued a warrant for Wright’s arrest following her alleged involvement in a robbery. The incident took place outside a Lowe’s store in Concord, North Carolina, and prompted officers to respond to a larceny call.
According to a report by local NBC affiliate WCNC, on Monday, July 31, Wright and another suspect reportedly made their escape in a car when the police arrived at the scene.
The Concord Police Department issued an arrest warrant for her, charging her with armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, and misdemeanor larceny.
