A fatal collision on Pembroke’s Route 5 kills a Batavia woman and critically injures two others

On late Thursday afternoon, a tragic incident took place on Route 5 in Genesee County’s Pembroke, resulting in the death of Batavia resident Nikki Stonebraker. As she was driving east on Route 5, her vehicle swerved over the yellow line and collided with a westbound minivan.

Despite the immediate assistance provided by an off-duty deputy who discovered the scene, Stonebraker was pronounced dead on the spot.

The accident was severe and led to two serious injuries. The minivan driver and a passenger were both badly hurt and quickly taken to the Erie County Medical Center.

Authorities suspect that the terrible weather and high speed may have contributed to the unfortunate incident.

An in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash is currently underway. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, and local fire departments are all working together to uncover the facts.
