Members of the police and fire departments of Michigan who are credibly discovered to have ties to known hate groups could be fired if a pair of measures introduced in the state House this week become law.
Legislators, firefighters, and corrections officers, along with their trainers, who are credibly discovered to have been members or participants in a hate group could have their licenses revoked subsequent to an internal departmental investigation, in accordance with House Bills 5281 and 5282. Furthermore, the definition of a hate group is specified in the first of the two proposals.
