According to authorities, a Tesla crash that occurred outside of John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of a female passenger.
Officials have reported that a vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard in Brookville, following a 911 call just before 2 p.m. Police have responded to the incident.
The NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad looked into the incident and found out that a 52-year-old man was driving a black 2023 Tesla Model Y SUV towards east on Rockaway Boulevard. The said vehicle collided with the back of a gray 2010 Ford Fusion that was in the right lane near the intersection of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.
As the Tesla made its way through the intersection, it collided with a White 2002 International Utility Body Truck that was parked in the westbound lane of Rockaway Boulevard. The impact was significant, and the two vehicles sustained substantial damage.
The 54-year-old front passenger of the Tesla was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The 52-year-old Tesla driver was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center by EMS and is reported to be in stable condition.
Both the driver of the Ford and the box truck were present at the scene of the incident and fortunately, neither of them sustained any injuries. The investigation is still ongoing. The family notification is still pending for the identity of the deceased.
