Police arrest suspected drug dealer after foot chase south of downtown Colorado Springs

According to reports, Colorado Springs Police arrested a man on charges of drug distribution and possession on Wednesday morning. The arrest occurred after a foot chase in the vicinity of Dorchester Park, which is located south of downtown Colorado Springs.

Police officers were on a mission to issue citations and approach individuals with warrants in Dorchester Park. During their operation, they received information about a suspected drug dealer selling narcotics near the southwest corner of the park and the Tejon Street Bridge. Upon reaching the location, officers saw the accused and observed a possible drug deal in progress. They immediately initiated a foot chase.

According to reports, Jason Corbett, who is 41 years old, was seen running along the greenway and eventually headed southbound on Tejon after going under the Tejon Street Bridge. However, police officers were quick to respond to the situation, with the help of the HOT unit, patrol officers, and a motor unit. Fortunately, the suspect was apprehended without incident.

The police have reported that during the pursuit, Corbett left behind a small backpack which was found to contain a mix of drugs including Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Shrooms, and Heroin. The total weight of these illegal substances was approximately 44.95 grams. Additionally, the police also recovered over $3,100 in cash from the backpack.

As per the records available online, Corbett has previously admitted to charges of distribution twice, once in 2013 and again in 2019.

According to recent reports, Corbett has been apprehended for various charges, including the distribution and possession of a controlled substance, obstruction of justice, and an outstanding felony warrant for a prior distribution charge. As of the latest update, it seems that he is still being held at the El Paso County jail.
