Bus Driver ‘Suffers’ After Getting Fired for Drinking Alcoholic White Claw Unaware of Its Content

According to police, the New York bus driver who was fired for driving students home while drinking an alcoholic seltzer will not be charged. It was reported that she was caught by authorities, but she claimed to be surprised by the discovery.

Amal Hanna, a 60-year-old bus driver, was filled with emotion as she spoke to News 12 Long Island about her recent mistake. She explained that on October 4, she accidentally grabbed a can of White Claw instead of her usual fruit-flavored seltzer from the refrigerator she shares with her roommate before heading to work. Hanna expressed regret for the mistake and referred to it as a one-time incident.

According to the report, Hanna, who is currently receiving chemotherapy, mentioned that she has trouble tasting and was not able to detect any alcohol in the drink. She had a White Claw in her cup holder while transporting students from Smithtown High School West and was promptly taken off her route when it was noticed.

Hanna, a bus driver for 15 years, expressed her concern about how non-drinkers would be able to identify alcoholic beverages. She also shared her worries about the possibility of becoming homeless.

According to a recent report, the Smithtown School District Superintendent, Mark Secaur, issued a statement to families regarding an incident involving a bus driver. The driver was allegedly drinking an alcoholic beverage while transporting students home from High School West. The report confirms that an alcoholic beverage was found on board, and the driver was immediately removed from the bus. The route was completed by a different driver.

According to a statement from WE Transport Inc., the bus company that employed the driver, the alleged conduct exhibited by the driver is completely unacceptable, and she has been immediately removed from service. Fortunately, no children were injured in the incident. The New York Post reported that the driver will not face charges after claiming that she did not realize White Claw contained alcohol.

Despite several attempts, PEOPLE was unable to receive a comment from WE Transport Inc. regarding the matter.

According to PEOPLE, Hanna has expressed that she is currently going through a difficult time and is experiencing a great deal of distress as a result of the situation.

According to a statement from the Suffolk County Police Department, Hanna will not be facing any charges in relation to the mix-up. Meanwhile, Secaur declined to provide any further comment on the matter.

According to a concerned parent, a GoFundMe initiative has been established to provide emotional and financial assistance to Hanna.

According to the organizer, the kids who rode on her bus considered her to be a kind-hearted woman who treated them like a grandmother. Unfortunately, due to an honest mistake that she made, she lost her job while undergoing chemotherapy. The organizer disclosed that her own children were also present on the bus that day and they could tell that the situation was just a misunderstanding.

By Thursday morning, the fundraiser for Hanna had already amassed a staggering $22,000 in support of her cause.
