Woman shoots and kills man she claims was about to attack her, says CSPD

An investigation is currently underway by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) following an incident of an early-morning shooting on the northeast side of the city which resulted in the discovery of one deceased individual.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported a shooting incident that occurred around 1:15 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25. The caller, who had just met a man, reported that she was in danger of being attacked by him. She took matters into her own hands and shot the man before fleeing the scene to ensure her safety.

Upon discovering a woman in her car at a hospital, officers were able to gather information from her which eventually led to the discovery of a man’s body in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 6900 block of Alpine Currant View. This complex is situated just southwest of the intersection of East Woodmen Road and North Union Boulevard.

According to CSPD, the Violent Crimes Unit detectives took over the investigation after the shooting was reported. The woman who reported the incident was interviewed and subsequently released.
