Breaking News: 39-year-old woman killed in Independence shooting, as police investigate

According to a statement released by the Independence police department, a shooting that occurred on Friday night resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman. The authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the incident. The department has not yet provided any further details regarding the incident.

In the late evening hours, police officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of South Harvard Avenue in response to an emergency call about an individual who was found lying on the ground and appeared to be unresponsive.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered a female individual who had sustained a gunshot wound and was lying in front of a residential property.

Jennifer L. Scott, a 39-year-old resident of Independence, has been identified as the victim.

According to the release, the current investigation is being treated as a homicide. The investigators are actively pursuing leads to gather information on potential suspects.
