The tight-knit community in Lanham, Maryland is currently in mourning following the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl named Jayda Medrano Moore. According to witnesses, Moore was trying to shield her younger brother from a group of masked teenagers when she was fatally shot. The senseless act of violence has left her family and friends devastated. Despite the heartbreaking loss, Moore’s father, Glendon Reid, fondly remembers her daughter’s exceptional intellect and basketball skills. He spoke about her aspirations of playing in the WNBA, a dream that will never be fulfilled due to this tragic incident.
Several teenagers witnessed the incident, but the authorities have not been able to make any arrests yet. To aid in the investigation, Prince George’s County Police have announced a reward of $25,000 for anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
