In a recent interview, Fred Trump III, who is the nephew of former President Donald Trump, spoke out against his uncle’s behavior. He revealed that he had witnessed his uncle using racial slurs several decades ago and described him as “atomic crazy.” Despite his familial ties, Fred Trump III plans to vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.
According to an interview with ABC News’ Aaron Katersky, Fred Trump stated that the approach taken by Trump was often “complex and sometimes cruel.”
As we all know, families can be quite complicated and that applies to every family out there. It’s safe to say that every family has their own version of a crazy uncle and in my case, my Uncle Donald takes the cake for being the most eccentric. He has definitely made his mark on our family’s history and that’s exactly what I talk about in my latest book, “All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way.”

When asked to elaborate, Fred Trump expressed that it implies his astonishment towards the actions of the person he knows so well. He confessed to shuddering and questioning whether this is the same person he knew and what led to this change in behavior. Nonetheless, he maintained that he had a positive relationship with the individual.
In his statement, he expressed, “Despite the heinous acts he has committed against me, there are those who wonder how I could still desire a relationship with him. However, he is my uncle and a member of my family, and that holds significant value to me.”
In advocating for people with severe developmental disabilities, such as his adult son William, Fred Trump, the son of the former president’s late older brother Fred Trump Jr., wrote the book. According to him, this latest Trump family tell-all is not a political hit job, but rather a truthful account of his uncle, the Republican nominee for president. He believes that it is time to reveal the full truth about his uncle’s life.
Steven Cheung, the Trump Campaign Communications Director, refuted the allegations against the ex-president in a statement given to ABC News.
“He said the news is completely fabricated and a total fake of the highest order. He finds it appalling that a lie so disgustingly blatant can be printed in the media. Anyone who knows President Trump is aware that he would never use such language. False stories like this have already been thoroughly debunked.”
In the newly released book by Donald Trump Jr., he sheds light on a chapter called “The Race Card.” Within this chapter, he delves into his uncle’s use of a racial slur, as stated by him.
“When I was approximately 10 years old, I used to visit my grandparents’ house frequently,” recalled Fred Trump. “On one such visit, I could hear Donald’s loud screams. Curious, I made my way down to the driveway and saw his white El Dorado convertible with two slashes on its side. It’s a memory that has stayed with me all these years. Donald had used electrical tape to cover up the black roof of the car. During our conversation, he uttered the N-word twice, speculating who might have been responsible for this act of vandalism.”
Despite consistent denials from the former president, Fred Trump has stated that he vividly remembers the moment when a racial slur was allegedly used, even though he was young at the time. He affirmed that he “absolutely” recalls the incident.
When asked about Donald Trump’s repeated denials, Fred Trump responded, “OK. He did twice that day,” according to ABC News.
In his book, Fred Trump acknowledges that some individuals have labeled his son, the former president, as a racist, while others have refuted these accusations. However, he does not disclose his personal beliefs on the matter.
When asked about his colleague’s controversial views, he acknowledged that at times, the individual expresses ideas that align with those of people who hold bigoted beliefs. “That’s the most accurate response I can give,” he replied.
When asked if his son was a racist, Fred Trump firmly denied the accusation. He stated, “I don’t believe he’s a racist,” but acknowledged that Donald Trump has a tendency to use people for his own benefit, regardless of their race. He went on to say that his son uses individuals as props and will discard them once they are no longer useful to him. Despite these actions, Fred Trump did not consider them as racially motivated.
Fred Trump saw a chance to speak up for the disabled when his uncle was elected president in 2016.
He stated that he had visited the Oval Office 12 times with a specific purpose in mind- to stand up for individuals with intricate disabilities.
In the Oval Office in May 2020, Donald Trump was present along with a few others, including the group that was brought down. After dispersing, Mike Pompeo was asked to return and meet with Donald. Upon meeting, Donald greeted Mike with his usual friendly demeanor, saying “Hey, pal. How’s it going?”
According to him, he spent some time chatting with his uncle by sitting down for a bit.
Fred Trump recalled his son’s shocking statement, “These people, all the expenses. They should just die.” It was appalling to hear Donald Trump speak so callously about fellow human beings who were dealing with complex issues. The fact that his initial reaction was to suggest that they should die was deeply troubling.
According to Fred Trump, this was not a one-time occurrence. He recounted a phone call he made to his uncle to inform him that the medical fund they had established for his son William was running low, and he shared that his uncle had always been diligent in replenishing the fund.
According to Fred Trump, a few years back, he contacted Donald and informed him that the fund was running low. In response, Donald promptly suggested letting Fred’s son pass away and relocating to Florida, stating that Fred’s son did not recognize him.
When Fred Trump was asked if he was taken aback by the comment, he confirmed that he was. He further explained that he had already informed his uncle that his son had indeed recognized him.
Fred Trump expressed his surprise upon hearing the news. “I don’t think you could hear something like that and not be surprised,” he said. He further added that it was unfortunate that his son had become what he is today.
ABC News inquired as to why there was a desire for a relationship with an uncle who was described as extremely cruel.
Fred Trump expressed that he didn’t believe anyone could change his son’s ways, stating, “I’m not gonna change him.” However, he did enjoy spending time with him and hoped that if Donald Trump was not elected, he would calm down. He acknowledged that this might not be possible, but he remained grateful for the access to golf courses that Donald had provided him, saying, “I do thank him for the entree to those courses. I’m a heck of a golfer.” Fred also joked that he may not be welcome at the golf courses anymore if his son was not elected, but he would find other courses to play on.
In a recent statement, Fred Trump disclosed that he intends to cast his vote for Harris in the upcoming election. However, he also mentioned that he would be more than happy to attend the inauguration ceremony if his uncle emerges victorious and extends an invitation to him.
