31 Dogs Found in DC Home After 13-Hour Police Standoff

Mocobizscene- According to NBC Washington, three police officers were shot during an attempt to arrest a suspect for animal cruelty at a home in D.C. on Wednesday. The suspect fired at the officers, leading to a standoff, and barricaded himself inside his home for 13 hours. Eventually, the authorities were able to apprehend him.

During the court hearing on Thursday, Feb. 15, Rattigan chose not to enter a plea. The judge in charge ordered that he be held without bond and required a mental examination.

The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) took action following Rattigan’s arrest, removing a total of 20 adult dogs and 11 puppies from the premises. To transport these canines, three vans were utilized. It is worth noting that all of the dogs retrieved were either American Bullies or a mix of the breed.

According to 7News, the HRA is committed to ensuring the care and well-being of the dogs. As a result, the dogs have been moved to a safe off-site location where they are receiving the necessary care. The staff members are actively assessing the unique needs of each dog and providing them with the care they require.

Many dogs require extensive medical care for their injuries, which are often the result of fights that occur due to their living conditions, as reported by 7News.

According to reports, it is unclear why Rattigan kept such a large number of dogs as he did not have them for dog fighting purposes. The DogTime website recently reported on a 13-hour police standoff at the Washington, D.C. home of a man who was found to be in possession of 31 dogs.
